Frequently asked questions
Does the safety training replace the forklift licence?
No. Anyone operating industrial trucks with a driver's seat or driver's stand requires training in accordance with DGUV Grundsatz 308-001 and a written driving permit (§ 7 DGUV Vorschrift 68). The safety training is the annual refresher for already trained drivers.
What must be checked before each use?
Brakes, steering, lifting mechanism, warning devices, and visible damage. Defects are reported, and the equipment remains out of service until rectified.
Is online safety training legally permissible?
Yes. Safety training may be conducted electronically if the content is workplace-related, comprehension is tested, and employees can ask questions of a competent person at any time (DGUV Regel 100-001 (rules of German statutory accident insurance), Abschnitt 2.3). Armstrong tests comprehension with knowledge questions and provides a question function.
How is the safety training documented?
Upon completion, each person receives a certificate with their name, date, topic, and the result of the knowledge test. Participation can be retrieved by the employer at any time in the participation matrix – this provides proof of documentation in accordance with § 4 Abs. 1 DGUV Vorschrift 1.
About this course
This training session focuses on the safe operation of order-picking forklifts in everyday work to prevent accidents and ensure responsible use of the equipment. It raises awareness of the high number of accidents involving industrial trucks, which are often caused by carelessness and improper behavior. The training focuses on recognizing and preventing collisions, particularly when reversing and in situations with limited visibility, as well as on the importance of stopping distance and appropriate driving behavior. In addition, the course covers in detail the daily pre-use inspection, the proper reporting of defects, the safe parking of the vehicle, correct load handling, and the proper storage of pallets on shelves. The goal is to consistently prevent personal injury and property damage through prudent behavior and adherence to specific safety rules.
