Frequently asked questions
When must a SiGeKo be appointed?
When employees of multiple employers work on a construction site (§ 3 Abs. 1 BaustellV (German Construction Site Ordinance)). The client is responsible.
Does this safety training qualify as a SiGeKo?
No. It explains tasks and cooperation. Qualification as a SiGeKo requires specialist knowledge, professional experience, and coordinator knowledge in accordance with RAB 30.
Is online safety training legally permissible?
Yes. Safety training may be conducted electronically if the content is workplace-related, comprehension is tested, and employees can ask questions of a competent person at any time (DGUV Regel 100-001 (rules of German statutory accident insurance), Abschnitt 2.3). Armstrong tests comprehension with knowledge questions and provides a question function.
How is the safety training documented?
Upon completion, each person receives a certificate with their name, date, topic, and the result of the knowledge test. Participation can be retrieved by the employer at any time in the participation matrix – this provides proof of documentation in accordance with § 4 Abs. 1 DGUV Vorschrift 1.
About this course
This training course provides essential knowledge about the Safety and Health Coordinator (SiGeKo) on construction sites. Given the increased risk of accidents and the complex coordination required when multiple companies work together, the role of the SiGeKo is of crucial importance. Participants will learn when appointing a SiGeKo is required by law, what qualifications the SiGeKo must possess, and what tasks the SiGeKo performs during the planning and execution phases of a construction project. Key tools, such as the health and safety plan (SiGe-Plan) and the construction site regulations, will be introduced. In addition, the course provides practical explanations of how the Safety and Health Coordinator’s work affects the day-to-day activities of employees on the construction site and how each individual can contribute to workplace safety. The goal is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the Safety and Health Coordinator’s coordinating role and thereby improve safety on construction sites in the long term.
